A nail fungus infection can start as a white or yellow spot under the fingernail or toenail tip, but may affect any part of the nail. If the nail fungus spreads deeper in your nail, the nail may discolour, thicken and crumble. This is a nasty and potentially painful problem. These infections usually develop on nails that are constantly exposed to warm, humid environments, such as sweaty shoes or shower floors. While some people are genetically more susceptible to fungal infection, behaviors such as swimming and sweating often lead to fungal buildup due to buildup of moisture. In extreme cases, nail fungus can be very painful and affect the person's ability to use their hands and / or feet.
Drop tea tree oil on the nail. Tea tree oil has been used for centuries as an antiseptic and fungicide. Dab a few drops directly on the construction site or soak a cotton ball in tea tree oil and rub it on the affected area.
Carefully clean your nail with a toothbrush. Be sure to throw away the toothbrush after using it for this purpose.
Try making a mixture of tea tree oil and olive oil and rubbing on your nail. You can reapply this mixture or pure Tea Tree Oil as often as you like. Twice a day is usually sufficient to help mild cases.
Tea tree oil is a very inexpensive treatment with no side effects. [1]
Make a baking soda, peroxide, white vinegar and salt scrub. Combine 4 cups (950 ml) of hot water, 1 to 4 cups (59 ml) of hydrogen peroxide and ½ cup (120 g) of epsom salt. Then add 1/4 cup (59 ml) white vinegar. All these ingredients can be found in your pharmacy. Soak your nail directly in the mixture or soak a cotton ball and hold it on the nail for about 10 minutes. Repeat it twice a day.
Foam pure orange oil on your nail. Like tea tree oil, orange oil is used as a fungicide and can help eliminate nail fungus. Be sure to get the oil under the toenail and on top of it. Make sure you are not allergic to orange oil by testing it on a small patch of skin before applying.
Mash fresh garlic and mix it with white vinegar. Garlic has antifungal properties when raw. Make sure the garlic is well crushed to release allicin, the compound with antifungal properties. Soak your toe in the mix as long as it is comfortable. Consuming raw garlic can also help fend off fungus.
